I met the author in St.Kitts and knew her to be a really nice, fun person who drove a ( ugly) car 😝.
I was amazed she survived the wreck on the island. Even in the hospital ( sans chickens and goats in the ward area) she had a smile on her face.
What I didn't know is that she can write, and write well. I also didn't quite understand the amount of drive she has, likely because I really didn't know her that well.
I want to thank her for sharing this story with such honesty. I feel I know her better now and am proud to know her!
PS: I like Alice In Chains too, rock on!

This book is a definite "must read". A true testament to overcoming, to making a decision and DOING IT!
Heartfelt account of overcoming a tragedy without fluff. Down to earth and incredibly insightful. Couldn't put it down. Would recommend to all.
I'm only in the middle of this fine book, and all that I can say is wow! I am amazed, stunned and heartbroken all at the same time. All that I can say is Wow! Can't wait to finish reading... I'll be back! )
This book was a great read, very well written. She is so honest about her journey and struggles she must overcome to reach her goals. A true heroine indeed!

I applaud Monique's writing since she made a genuine effort compiling her thoughts, dreams, ambitions, and struggles in her ongoing fight against her Spinal Cord Injury. I have a SCI and completely relate to this book. Her honest approach about how this injury has effected her life was refreshing. Many times people in the medical fields try use words or phrases such as "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger". I agree with Monique, this is complete BS. Spinal cord injuries are horrible but what other choice do you have but to push on despite the pain, the frustration, the lack of mobility, and other unpleasant things that come along with this injury.
